My commitment to teaching is central to the way I understand myself as a member of the scholarly community. I have designed and taught a range of courses to diverse groups of students at William Paterson University as well as Hobart and William Smith Colleges, Mount Holyoke College and Emory University. My offerings include surveys on South Asian and global history, mid-level courses on the Mughal empire, pan-Asian history and modern India, and seminars on anticolonial nationalism, religious identities, the politics of decolonization and capitalism from the global south. In addition, I have taught a first-year orientation course to help students adjust from high school to university life, and mentored several younger scholars with independent study projects and applications to graduate school.
